As AI becomes more a part of daily life, we find ourselves further removed from our organic reality. Especially when technology's limitless potential transforms our reality's production; this dynamic inspired a fascinating experiment juxtaposing nature and technology in art.
The idea for this floor art piece comes from digitalized images of red blood cells. In the past, making a carpet or tapestry like this would only be possible by hand. Now we can feed digital images to a robot capable of producing beautifully. Textural works of art, completely made out of natural yarns.
CROSSROADS
OF NATURE AND TECHNOLOGY
The natural mohair and eucalyptus fibers create lush carpets with perfectly detailed red blood cells. The carpet is finished with human touches and loose threads clipped by experienced weavers.
RED BLOOD CELLS
Red blood cells are symbolic of all the organic shapes found in nature and inside us! We combined nature, art, technology, and human achievements by programming a robot to tuft a carpet made up of digitized images of red blood cells. The results are absolutely gorgeous!
